Why This Happens

The avoidant man's waiting room.

Why am I still waiting for him, even after I've left? When you date an avoidant man, you get sent to a waiting room. Waiting for him to choose you. Waiting for him to go back to who he was. Waiting to feel safe enough to sleep again, eat properly again, be yourself again. Sometimes the door looks like it's opening, and then it isn't, and you're just waiting again. Here's the part that matters: even after you've left the dynamic, you're still waiting. That's not weakness. That's conditioning, the same mechanism as Pavlov's dogs responding to a bell long after the food stopped coming. You didn't choose it and you didn't see it happening. What was conditioned into you unconsciously can be conditioned out of you consciously. That's the part talking and researching can't do alone.
